The Lana Lou Lane THE bull dog from the South Georgia Alapaha River region. The dogs were family members and used during the plantation days as watchdogs and for working livestock. The Lana Lou Lane A is athletic, intelligent, possessive, protective and defensive. They are the "down to earth" dog for the family and are excellent with children and other animals. The true bulldog, bred by Lana Lou Lane, is of varying colors. Preferred colors are Blue Merle, Brown Merle, or Red Merle all trimmed in white or chocolate and white. Also preferred is a glass (eye or marble (mixed brown & blue) eyes. Today'sdogs range in weight with the males averaging 80-125 pounds and female averaging 60-110 pounds.
PURPOSE - Guardian, protector and family companion.
OVERALL IMPRESSION Square, powerfully built, yet agile and athletic for size and alertness. Should give impression of nobility. (Thereby - "Blue Blood")
HEAD - Large, flat ac cross the top, square, heavily muscled in males.
MUZZLE - Square with heavily muscled jaws. Up to 40% of total length of head.
NOSE - Black to liver. 50% or more light pigment is unacceptable.
EARS Medium in size, half perked or rose. Cropping NOT permissible.
NECK- Thick of medium length.
CHEST - Wide and deep with well sprung rib cage.
BACK - Straight, not rigid or swayed. Length equal to height at shoulders, with a 1" variation acceptable.
TAIL - Optimum length should reach hock. Final 1/3 of tail to have gradual upward curvature. Docking NOT permissible.
FORELEGS - Straight and extremely thick-boned. Balanced forward toes. Feet well knuckled up with thick pads. (Dewclaws not removed).
REAR - Hips narrower than shoulders. Well muscled and in proportion to forequarters.
COLOR - Merle and white preferred. It Any color and white acceptable although solid white is undesirable.
COAT - Short to medium length and fairly stiff to the tough with soft undercoat.
ALpaha Blue Blood Bulldog SIZE - Males 22-25" at the withers and 70-125 lbs. Females 20-23" and 60-110 lbs. 1" variation in height is allowed. 5-10 lb. variation is allowed.
